Qualcomm announced a low-cost processor with 5G support

On January 4, Qualcomm held a presentation at which it unveiled the company's first low-cost processor with support for next-generation communication networks. With its help, even mid-priced devices will be able to provide access to 5G networks, which, in turn, will further accelerate their spread.

The Snapdragon 480 5G includes six economical Cortex-A55 cores and a couple of powerful Cortex-A76 cores. Architecture 2/6 - a new solution for this series, previously the processor consisted of four powerful and four fuel-efficient cores. The chip is made by 8-nanometer process technology and has a double increase in performance compared to the 460 generation.

The Spectra 345 chip enables parallel data input from three sensors including 720p video. The processor supports the proprietary Quick Charge 4+, Bluetooth 5.1, Full HD+ screen performance at 120 fps, as well as Wi-Fi 6.
