If Trend Micro analysts are right, the smartphones of two billion users could be the source of a serious threat. It's all about a fairly popular ShareIt app, which is not as secure as it may seem at first glance. The tool allows you to share data between smartphones, even from different operating systems, without too much trouble, but, as it turns out, it cannot protect personal data.
Cybersecurity experts insist that cybercriminals can easily steal confidential information from smartphones, remotely install malware on them, or even modify local files.
Trend Micro representatives assure that developers of the program were notified about serious security flaws three months ago, but no action was taken to fix them, so Trend Micro management decided to release the information to the public.
